TR2/3 Windshield Stanchion I.D.

Two different types of windshield stanchions were fitted to the TR2-TR3B cars.  The stanchions were attached to the car with 1/4 turn Dzus fasteners up to TS60000, and by long threaded screws after TS60000.  There is a slight difference in the stanchions for either type of mounting hardware, as shown in the photo below.

The stanchion on the left is used on pre-TS60000 cars with Dzus fasteners .  The stanchion on the right is for the later post-TS60000 cars with attachment screws.  Note that the front (top) and rear (bottom) recesses surrounding the holes are identical on the early type, but the later style on the right has virtually no recess around the front hole.  Regarding the slight recess which can be seen around the front hole of the late stanchion above, I suspect that this may have been 'formed' by over tightening the mounting screw at some time in the past.

If you're having trouble getting your Dzus fasteners to latch, especially the front one, check to make sure that you're not trying to install a late stanchion to your early car!
